No longer will you readers be forced to sit behind your screens in longing, repressing your hopes and dreams to join our lovely and ingenious publication! For (queue the trumpet noises please) there is now a Peak Newspaper club! Now, now, before you get too excited, allow me to give a thrilling and awe worthy explanation as to what we will be doing in this ostentatious and luring club of ours.

I am so thankful for your decision to look into our newly established Newspaper/Journalism Club. I assure you that it is all the rage. Come, come! There’s so much you must know!

There are many roles in The Peak’s staff that you could fulfill, and each one has their own kind of fun and difficulty. Here’s a quick rundown of what kind of jobs we offer:

  • Reporter
  • Web/Printed Edition Designer
  • Photographer
  • Cartoon Artist
  • Marketer
  • Social Media Manager
  • And More!

At the start of the club, all new members will be given the chance to learn the craft that is journalism with lessons about researching, your rights as a press reporter, and the basics of article writing. Roles outside reporters will have their individual questions and needs about their jobs met whilst in the learning process. So don’t be afraid to get yourself involved in something you might not know a lot about! Here at The Peak, everyone is welcome, no matter your level of experience or skill. Our publication allows us to establish a sense of community for the Mountainside student body, and of course that goes for our staff as well.

Every year we put out a printed edition of The Peak, which gives us the opportunity to get our work into the hands of our classmates and teachers. This year, we intend to make marketing a huge priority for The Peak. Whether it be making posters, social media posts, or whatever else we can think up. We need a strong marketing team to keep our publication in the minds and hands of students. We need intuitive thinkers and people who can take action. We need you! If being a marketer is of interest to you, keep that in mind for our first meeting. We’re excited to have you!

The club will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:40-3:45, the first meeting being on the 20th of October. The first day of the club will be more of an introduction to the paper, and team building so as to create the most cohesive staff we can. Before then, make sure to take a look around the website. Read articles, look over some of the staff we have, just really delve into our world so you have a good idea of what you might be doing as a staff member at The Peak.

We are thrilled to have you, and to see a new face in our midst. Don’t be afraid to come by anytime, our door is always open. That door being the one attached to room 368 of course.

Au revoir! Can’t wait to meet you all!
