Watsyn Tibbetts

Watsyn Tibbetts, Staff Reporter

The Peak welcomes a bundle of fresh new faces to the team of aspiring journalists. Among these bright young writers is sophomore Watsyn Tibbetts (she/her). Tibbetts currently works at Glenview Retirement home as a busser. She took journalism to be able to learn how to express herself on paper similar to some of her favorite writers such as Aristotle, Charles Bukowski, and Edgar Allen Poe.

She plans to benefit the Mountainside community by becoming a member of the MHS Hope Club and Key Club. This year she hopes to be in-person to directly give to the homeless in our community and actively participate in in-service events.

She is considering a career in education, and she aspires to teach and inspire younger students the way her teachers inspired her. Tibbetts commented, “I feel like when I was younger, I had more of an imprint of the people in my life and I remember them the most… they helped me grow up to be like who I am now.”

Her role model is her mother who is a strong, independent, and kind woman. Tibbets mom is currently handling her battle with breast cancer “like a champ”. Tibbetts is inspired by her mom’s courage and aspires to become a woman just like her.

Tibbetts’ complexity and varying aspects of her personality will make her a compelling writer worth reading. The sports department is lucky to have her.
